Van Herpen is known for her collections made of special materials and last night she showed a recognizable Van Herpen collection. Yesterday she showed a collection of alien-like designs made of unusual materials such as copper, silicone and PVC. All the designs are made in an unprecedented manner, a new 3D technique called 'Mammoth Stereolithography. This 3-D printing process is built up segment for segment in a sheath of polymer. The polymer hardens once it comes into contact with a laser beam, resulting in a more complex and layered form. Are you following yet?
